My final Alan Turing video.

So here it is, with the help of final cut express and After Effects I have created a video on Alan turing, using the decode recode idea to run through the video. One of my favorite parts of this video is the bumpy running style, it creates a dynamic and fast style. I als like the colour blockages that appear, these are intentional as i want them to represent a way of coding and ‘something occurring’. I am glad with the black and white theme, its strong, noticeable and simple and juxtaposes well with the busy running style of the video.

Motion - Here I am playing round with a technique of multiplying and then playing round with positioning. It looks dynamic and fun and I like how the lines overlay each other. It feels like the coding is actually happing. I feel again the black and white technique relates well with this video. The black lines are bold and striking.

Im very pleased with choosing the simple black and white route for my Alan Turing video, in some areas of the video the lines are crisp and strong, but in some areas they are delicate and rigid. I like the two styles juxtapositioning together, creating a more energetic feel to the video.

During my research for my essay -

Discuss the impact Advertising has on Women. Deliberate and explain the effects of Advertising in todays world.

This blog is about controversial advertising in the 21st century. The aim of this blog is to show people how adverts can be interesting, shocking and sometimes offensive. Usually, people take adverts as something boring and annoying because adverts are everywhere. In metro, on the bus and train stations, on the motorways, restaurants, cinemas, schools and on television. Adverts are aimed to persuade people to buy a specific product. But they can also alert people of diseases, protections and other catastrophes such as terrorism or racism. MTV and United Colors of Benetton are famous of doing controversial adverts which tries to address people of particular problem. MTV is doing adverts alerting young people of AIDS and crossing the streets safely and United Colors of Benetton address to problem of racism. Other advertisement campaigns, mainly in the clothing industry and cosmetics are also contoversial, very often with sexual undertone.

I like these types of adverts because they are very creative and therefore easy to remember. I think that society needs controversial adverts (in limit to sexual content and aggression because the advertisment world will be more imaginative and colourful.

Yesterday I spoke to Rob to See how I can push my grades from the B+’s iv been getting all year to an A. He explained that my research and development has always been good, but I tend to fall at the last hurdle. I do get what he means, maybe I dont make the best decisions about what my final should look like, or maybe I have better peices to further develop. In future im going to try and discuss my decisions with Rob, his advice and me taking them into account could help my grades better!

REVIEW - A Moleskine : Stop Motion Review -

During my duration on the Alan Turing brief I was told to create a Video about Alan Turing and the Decode Recode effect. I chose to do the medium of Stop Motion to create my video. During my research I came across this wonderful advertisement of a notebook (Moleskine make).

What is a Moleskine? A Moleskine is a production that includes notebooks, planners, diaries, sketchbooks, and albums. Since 2011 Moleskine also designs other objects connected to the cultural activities of reading, travelling and writing, including bags, reading glasses, pen, pencils, cases for digital devices, booklights, reading stands. Because Moleskine designes for cultural activities its uses the idea of creativity and the idea of culture within the advertisement.

This stop motion video has been made by Dutch visual artist Rogier Wieland for Moleskine. Weilands portfolio consists of film motion and animation. His short-movies are filmed in stop motion using sets of cardboard miniature of people photographed in various poses and then cut out and animated by hand. His techniques and style fit in with the idea of what Moleskine aims to do, be positive but fun. Enjoy life and record them.

The effect of aiming for the audiences attention is well thought out as the video instantly bursts full of Imagination, creativity, colour and music audio. The technique is well thought out as it is an advertisement for a product it aims to stay away from boring voiceovers describing the product but instead uses the actual product and its body to explore and create something you wouldnt really get from a small notebook.

The video starts off with the different sizes of the books you can get, matching up with music. The sequence changes are fast and dynamic instantly grabbing attention from the viewer. The aim of the video is simple, to sell, and so uses stop motion to get as much information and imagery in as possible to get the aim across. The bright colours used in the background are also benificial for the advertisement, this technique caters to attract different audineces, business people who want to keep organized to the younger generation, college students as well as university students.

This advertisements advantages is that the sequences keep the viewer entertained with fun and bold cut out shapes. It also changes a negitive into a positive - making organizing more fun, enjoyable and benifical. What I like the most out of the video is the thought of the audinece and the consumer. There is a differant notebook for everyone, a pink one for a girl, a bigger one for meetings etc. The thought of the consumer is thought of throughout the video as it shows different activities people most likely like doing. Its a clever and well thought out advertisement, much time and effort has gone into it but no detail has been left untouched.

So why is Stop motion so beneficial to the viewer? For starters a notebook is boring to record and try to sell. Stop motion is creative , attention grabbing and the possibilities of detail are endless. More can be crammed in with as many pictures you take and the progression of the film creates a great start, middle and end of the video. It is also a different form of advertising and so can be remebred more.

Just come across this image - so striking the colours are warm and inviting. A sense of calm is represented and overall expresses a great mood. I like how the paper has gone a bit funny towards near the chair but in a way blends well with the colour and is a great un-intenional texture.

About the artist: Camila do Rosário is a 21 year old Brazilian fashion student and fashion illustrator/artist. She tests her skills and abilities in many avenues of artistic expression but illustration is where her hear lies.

Techniques Used: She uses a combination of digital art, hand drawing, collages and watercolor/airbrush.

Inspirations: Everything that is around her - colors, songs, buildings, artwork, etc.

REVIEW - Throughout my second year i have aimed at using more medium techniques to evolve into my creative illustrative technique and style. I have used a vary of inks, paints, pencils, programs, digital images and photography images to create a wider vary of work. What medium I have enjoyed using the most is ink and the extra combination of water to create different effects, like combining colours and creating lines, enabling myself to work in a more dynamic and free way. Experimenting has always been an advantage in my corner and and allows great outcomes of work. Another aspect I particulary like

An Artist I take a great balance of inspiration from is Petra Dufkova who is a graphic illustrator specialized in fashion and style Illustrations. Fashion Illustration is the communication of fashion that originates with illustration, drawing and painting. It is usually commissioned for reproduction in fashion magazines as one part of an editorial feature or for the purpose of advertising and promoting fashion makers, fashion boutiques and department stores. Her style of work is often described as a ‘Beautiful mess’ uses a combination of ink, watercolours and pencil as well as using the technique of ‘botching’ photographs with colour to create complex and diverse images exuberating mood and fierceness into each fashion garment. Petra’s fashion, beauty and lifestyle illustrations combine traditional methods such as painting and simple use of brush strokes, with a modern look of vibrant colours mixing and blending. She is known for getting her inspiration from books, magazines, exhibitions and fashion shows which I find a great way to gain different approaches to the paper.

The white background compliments the running lines and leaking of colour into the paper. It is evident that the effect of watercolour and ink on the paper creates a texture which in my opinion creates depth and feel the the moody visuals. In opinion I feel its important that the images are created in this way, although messy and chaotic they each instantly focus on the term fashion. The term fashion is definatly evident in all these images and the colour enables an aspect of emotion as well as mood which is a great acessessory to have with the mood of these images.

Some Aspects of the portfoilo of Dufkovas work that i like are the large use of women in her visuals, with the combination of colour layering and line strokes, the women are represented in a powerful era. They embody style and sophistication and represant woman in a great light.

In conclusion Fashion Illustration has been around for nearly 500 years. Ever since clothes have been in existence and there was a need to translate an idea or image into a garment there has been a need for fashion illustration. I believe these images show a representation of the design of a garment but also serves as a form of art that allow illustration to show a presence of vibrancey, luxary and feirceness. I applaude the way Petra uses these illustrations to show off fashion and its enormity of influence it has in the world today.
